Alien beach party!

Jack enjoys his time on the TARDIS, he really does. And it's great fun to see just where she's going to take them next. But every now and then, it's nice to just be able to relax without worrying about Rose being drowned by shark people, and he knows a certain someone who could do with getting out and about more often.

He's got everything all set up on a massive stretch of beach that seems to go on for miles and miles, with no one else really around. He's wearing swimming trunks (since the Doctor has successfully instilled in him the habit of not going naked just because he can), and has a pair of beach towels laid out, with a big brightly colored beach umbrella staked in the sand between them.

"Hey, it's all we can ask for." He extends a hand, and begins leading Victor through a complicated series of steps in slow motion. It's not the rigid sort of steps of human dancing styles, it's a lot more fluid, more like oozing from one step to the next.

He laughs when he makes mistakes, is sometimes klutzy, often uses the wrong foot, and has a hard time bending and turning, but he is having so much fun, and is a good mimicker.

Jack chooses his moves well, and if ever there's a time when Victor falls, there's soft sand there to help cushion the blow. Even at slow speeds, the moves can be a bit dizzying, but he's big and strong and makes a good handhold. He's smiling too, showing pearly white teeth, and laughing like older Jacks rarely do.

This Jack feels more like a peer than an uncle to her, and he's totally charmed by that smile of his, and he actually doesn't stumble when he's looking at his face and not his feet. (He does fall. Like seven times. But it helps that Jack is strong and the sand is gentle.)

"Hmm, the last time I danced like this, it was in a bar on Kepral Two. Dancing's illegal there."

"Who'd you dance with like that there?"

[fractured_agent]

"A monk who was evangelizing an obscure little folk religion from a colony planet. He was protected by law, but I wasn't. Fortunately they're really lenient on first time offenders; I just had to say I was really sorry and I wouldn't do it again." He looks amused by that, grinning at the memory.

"Lucky ducky, you. That's the sort of day you just wouldn't forget. How'd you dance this on a table without fallin' flat on your noggin?"

Jack chuckles. "Antigrav tables. You just let your drink float there, and if you happen to climb up on the table, you float there too."

"I could use one of those as a bed," he jokes. "I could pretend to be a magician's assistant."

[fractured_agent]

"I've slept under tables before, but never on one."

[victormakesart]

"I've done both, in my younger and spry-er years."

[fractured_agent]

"Tell me about it." He twirls him around a bit, kicking up sand, feeling the breeze in his hair.

"Before I officially moved out," he explains, and his knee gives out and he sucks in a breath. "I'd just start sleepin' wherever there was room for me, at my friends' places. Sometimes that was in sleeping bags under the table. Sometimes it was a chair. Once it was on top of a table. The rest of the place was mega crowded."

"What's a sleeping bag?" he asks, never having heard of such a thing. And when Victor stumbles, Jack holds onto him a little more firmly, using those big muscley arms.

And Victor can't help but feel giddy at the contact, because, at heart, he's just so thrilled that someone that beautiful is even halfway nearby without running and hiding from him. He thinks the same thing about his husbands, and the Doctor, and basically 90% of his male friends. His heart goes kerthump, kerthump, kerthump, like a frog on meth.

"It's, ah, it's like a comforter blanket, but zippered into a tube, so all you've gotta do is scoot in and then you're all warm and there's a tiny bit of cushioning 'cause it's made of a floofy blanket thing."

"That sounds delightfully twentieth century."

"What sorts of things do you use when you go camping?"

[fractured_agent]

"Camping? That's that thing you do where you go out in the woods and spend a week, right?"

[victormakesart]

"Yeah. Wait, do folks still do that in your time?"

[fractured_agent]

"No, but I've heard about it in my cultural training."

[victormakesart]

"Interesting. Is there anything to take its place? As in... an acceptance of a pastoral ideal and a desire to live without luxuries for a short time?"

[fractured_agent]

"Well, usually the folks who feel that way just move to a colony planet and live there. Other than that... there's shore leave."

[victormakesart]

"What's shore leave like? Have you ever given it a go?"

[fractured_agent]

"It'd be pretty boring to serve on a ship if I didn't. Everyone's got to have a chance to decompress."
