Alien beach party!

Jack enjoys his time on the TARDIS, he really does. And it's great fun to see just where she's going to take them next. But every now and then, it's nice to just be able to relax without worrying about Rose being drowned by shark people, and he knows a certain someone who could do with getting out and about more often.

He's got everything all set up on a massive stretch of beach that seems to go on for miles and miles, with no one else really around. He's wearing swimming trunks (since the Doctor has successfully instilled in him the habit of not going naked just because he can), and has a pair of beach towels laid out, with a big brightly colored beach umbrella staked in the sand between them.

Jack seems to startle a bit. "What?"

"You were just lookin' sad, so I wanted to make you look... unsad."

[fractured_agent]

"I get that way sometimes." Jack gives him a brilliant smile, turning the charm back on.

[victormakesart]

"You don't hafta do that, it's okay."

[fractured_agent]

He shrugs. "It's all right. It's not like I know what I'm missing, right?"

[victormakesart]

"Yeah, I get that. And you have a whole life ahead of you, to fill with beautiful new memories."

[fractured_agent]

"Well, I wouldn't necessarily call them beautiful, but there's a lot of beauty to be had," Jack chuckles.

[victormakesart]

"There really is. And you should take full advantage of it."

[fractured_agent]

"What's that old Earth saying? Seize the day?"

[victormakesart]

"Exactly! Carpe diem."

[fractured_agent]

"Carp? What do fish have to do with it?"

[victormakesart]

"Oh, no, 'carpe.' Basically I was just saying in Latin what you just said. 'Seize the day.' It's interchangeable in my time."

"I thought folks in your century didn't use Latin anymore."

[victormakesart]

"We don't, but there are a few key phrases that we toss into English every once and a while. The evolution of the English language was a violent thing. It tends to just... swallow up other languages and regurgitate them at random."

[fractured_agent]

"Yeah, that happens. There's a reason I had to learn your form of English in training. It's changed a lot by my century."

[victormakesart]

"I bet! Can you speak a little bit of your English for me?"

[fractured_agent]

Jack takes Victor's hand, and puts on his most charming grin. The words that come out of his mouth are as strange as hearing Old English would be, except that there's clearly an alien influence there, with consonants that twenty-first century English doesn't use. And all of it spoken in his supposedly American accent, with just a hint of sultriness.

Victor finds himself blushing again, and he squeezes his hand, cheeks heating like the sidewalk in the middle of a Houston summer. He listens to him, watching his face, his mouth, as he forms these strange new words. After: "What'd you say?"

Jack decides to spare poor Victor's face from more blushing and summarizes, rather than go into explicit detail. "It's my century's version of 'Hey sailor, come here often?'"

'Wow,' he mouths. "It's much prettier when you say it."

[fractured_agent]

"Hey, in my day, it's practically an art form."

[victormakesart]

"I can only imagine! Bet you're like the da Vinci of pickups."

[fractured_agent]

"Nah, more like Monet."

[victormakesart]

"Ooh, delicate lines, great blending, yeah, I can see it. I'd be the Van Gogh of pickups." A large, crooked grin. "No one would want me, and I'd probs end up losing an ear."

[fractured_agent]

"If that happens, just come to my century, and we'll grow you a new one." Jack slings an arm over Victor's shoulders, all buddy-buddy, never mind that neither of them are wearing shirts. This is manly bonding time.

((going to town shortly but sometime today we need to meet up! Turns out Clark and April have run up to "Luthor" when I wasn't paying attention so we need to iron out last minute details, lol.))
