Alien beach party!

Jack enjoys his time on the TARDIS, he really does. And it's great fun to see just where she's going to take them next. But every now and then, it's nice to just be able to relax without worrying about Rose being drowned by shark people, and he knows a certain someone who could do with getting out and about more often.

He's got everything all set up on a massive stretch of beach that seems to go on for miles and miles, with no one else really around. He's wearing swimming trunks (since the Doctor has successfully instilled in him the habit of not going naked just because he can), and has a pair of beach towels laid out, with a big brightly colored beach umbrella staked in the sand between them.

He smiles watching him, wiggle-squirms a little bit, picks at the elastic on his swim trunks, takes a big deep breath and marches in after him, feeling the sand shift under his feet, squishy and grainy.

"Not a water person, huh?" Jack says, floating on his back and using only his feet to propel him along. He looks at home in the water, and well he should, coming from Boeshane. Even if he can't remember growing up there.

"I'm... not a water-in-which-there-may-be-critters person," he says, stepping forward a little more, up to his knees. "I loved the ocean, and then I learned about microbes and dead fish and monsters. I still love it, but I'm wary."

"Trust me on the monster thing, you won't get eaten. Or even nibbled. Cross my heart and hope to fly."

[victormakesart]

"And hope to fly? That's so much less morbid than my century's version." Up to his thighs, his hips, then he flops onto his back and kicks.

[fractured_agent]

"Really? What do they say?" He kicks in smooth, rolling motions with his feet, like if he was wearing swim fins, steering closer to Victor.

[victormakesart]

"They say 'hope to die.' It's really unfortunate phraseology, but it makes sense, 'cause they're hoping for something they don't want to happen, if they end up tellin' a falsehood. I'd love to fly." His kicks are more chaotic, like a kid learning to swim.

"There's an amusement park I know, over in the Skyllian sector, where they temporarily graft wings onto you for five hundred credits. They only last a few hours before the grafts start to unravel, but it's probably worth it."

[victormakesart]

"I bet it'd hurt," he says, gleefully, "but it'd be so totally worth it. But, like, I dunno how that'd work as far as lift goes. They'd have to be really special wings."

[fractured_agent]

"Well they're still perfecting natural movement, but... you had hang-gliders by your century, right?"

[victormakesart]

"Huh. I wonder why they bothered attachin' them to the body, then, 'cause that complicates everything. They'd have to modify the brain, too, rewire nerves."

[fractured_agent]

"It's an amusement park. It's all about the novelty."

[victormakesart]

"Annnnd I'm overthinking it." He turns onto his tummy, swimming forward like a large and clumsy frog, dipping his head underwater.

Jack laughs a little, and does a lazy barrel roll before diving down to grasp at a handful of sand, letting it trail out between his fingers on the way back up.

He laughs, does a lopsided water somersault, and then, so carefully, so tenderly, cups his hand and splashes.

Jack's a little surprised, but laughs, and quickly wheels around so his feet are pointed in Victor's direction, before paddling hard enough to send waves splashing at him.

In an act of self-protection, he lets the air out of his lungs and sinks underwater.

Jack submerges himself almost immediately, opening his eyes underwater and ignoring the sting of salt, first to make sure that Victor's not experiencing some kind of difficult, and second to make sure he's not sneaking up on Jack to grab his ankles and pull him under.

Vic's not a confident enough swimmer to pull anyone's ankles, and he kicks a few times, to draw in a deep breath. He knows from swimming in saltwater pools that the only way to sink is to sink breathlessly.

Jack waits until Victor comes back up. "Should've brought some breathing devices. Oh well."

"I bet those are cool in the future." He wipes water away from his eyes before he opens them.

[fractured_agent]

"Yeah, they've got them in all shapes and sizes now. My favorite is the foam patch you put over your nose and mouth. It's actually a living organism that filters out the oxygen in the water for you and feeds off your lung's byproducts."

[victormakesart]

"...can we try that next time we do this, please?" He flails his arms about, kicks wildly, chin tilting up, full of sun.

"I'll see if I can find one for you."

[victormakesart]

"That sounds like... like... the future," he says. "It sounds like Harry Potter stuff."
