The captain can't tell if her friend died in the war or some other reason, but in the end, it doesn't really matter, does it? "I'm sorry about your friend. Good men are taken too soon."

"I think that is why we should hold onto our good men, when they are still here."

The captain looks over at his men, most of his thoughts on them. He knows there's a good chance that not all of them will see the end of the war. Some of them, like the navigator Tosh is chatting with, are just barely old enough to serve. Little more than boys still. "That's why we have nights like this."

April is glad to see that Tosh has found a navigator. They are one step closer to their achieving their mission.

He'd expected her to use the word we instead of you, so that seems a bit odd to him, but he thinks maybe she just means those who are serving in the military. A beautiful dame like herself wouldn't be included in that, of course. "Any excuse for a party."

On the other side of the room, Jack has just about gotten up his nerve to come over and talk with the man whose name he stole. But before he can take more than a few steps, the sound of air raid sirens fills the air. Bringing back both memories and old habits. Nobody needs to say out loud to head to the shelter, they just all pick up their drinks and head down to the basement, the party atmosphere dulled for the moment. But there's no panic.

April has never heard an air raid siren before. She stands, sensing the calm-fear from the others as they head to the shelter.

Her voices aren't telling her that there is any danger... so she is not really frightened herself. Just confused.

"You coming?" Captain Harkness says, as he begins to follow the crowd.

Jack and Tosh also move towards the bomb shelter, and Jack can tell she's a bit confused. The Germans are doing a bombing run over the city. We know the building won't get hit but they don't.

While someone else might think it odd that she knows nothing about the Blitz, Jack makes no assumptions. He knows full well her childhood wasn't a conventional one, and even in his day, the World Wars of Earth were little more than a footnote in school until he began training with the Time Agency. Yes. Several cities got hit repeatedly for years, and Cardiff is one of them. I wasn't here for most of it last time around, but I've been in it before.

I guess we have to wait it out. Did you guys get more information?

Yeah, we got the coordinates. But now we need to figure out how we're going to get it to the others. That's the hardest part. And there's nothing they can do to make any plan a reality until they're out of the bomb shelter.

It's a bit close-quarters in the shelter, but not uncomfortably so. One of the musicians brought his clarinet with him, and begins to play a subdued tune for their lead singer to sing to, relaxing some of the tension.

We need to leave them somewhere in the building... where your team can find them. They are here, after all, in the right timeline.

Someplace where they won't be found until the right moment. That's the really difficult part. Wherever the hiding spot is, it has to be someplace that no one else will look.

Jack is very glad that April is along for the ride. He has extensive experience with time travel protocols, but it's impossible to know where the ideal spot would be without a clairvoyant along.

There are very few places where the equations can be hidden safely, and all of them have a sense of warning around them, the same touch of darkness that surrounds Bilis and his office. The safest spot seems to be an electrical box outside, where a note could be concealed for over sixty years.

So close together now, the same rude woman from earlier catches a glimpse of Tosh's papers sticking out of her bag. "What's that, then? Are you a spy?"

April frowns lightly, and without even a word she casts an illusion spell over the papers. So if they are taken from Tosh, people will just see simple drawings.

"The Chinese are on our side, aren't they?" Tim, the navigator, asks in confusion.

"I'm Japanese," Tosh replies without thinking.

"You're hardly an ally, then," the woman scoffs.

It's George, of all people, who leaps to Tosh's defense. "Leave it, Audrey."

"We are all just worried... lets take a moment..."

"How do we know they don't know where to bomb us because of her?" Audrey shoots back at April. She looks back at Tosh. "If you've got nothing to hide, open the bag."

Jack cuts through the crowd, Captain Harkness not far behind. "She can't," Jack says. "Her work is top secret. She's a decoder for the Brits." He glances down at the papers and can tell they're not the same as they were before. Your doing?

"I could say the same about you, Audrey. You seem eager to cast suspicion on someone else..." April calmly replies.

I can remove it or change it easily... April replies to Jack.

No, keep it. It's a good distraction if she gets grabby. Jack approves of her quick thinking. Again, a reason to be very glad she's along.

Audrey looks outraged at April's accusation, but Captain Harkness shuts her down smoothly. "Without people like her, we'd have no way of defending this country." He's still holding his glass of brandy, though it's mostly empty, and raises it in a toast. "To Toshiko."

The other men who still have their drinks raise them too. Audrey frowns, but can't say anything without disrespecting the captain. She does take a closer look at what little of Tosh's papers she can see, though. Just sketches, from what she can tell. No special codes.

She was snoopy... April is glad the situation was resolved without issue.

Jack is, too. Having Tosh here is far touchier than in the era she's used to, and he's just glad the attack on Pearl Harbor hasn't happened yet, or there might be no peaceful resolution. Good work, changing the papers.

As soon as we are able to leave, we will be able to leave the equations for the others...

Might be awhile, Jack says, listening to the sound of bombs falling on the city. Waiting is one of the hardest parts of war.
